Hip disorder

by: Boris Prilutsky

In most cases of back and limb disorders as well as in cases of hip problem, people experience pain in the hip region and in some cases it is accompanied with decrease in range of motion. The main pathology of the hip joint is arthritis. However, many physically active people (professional athletes, gym enthusiasts, physical job performers) very often suffer from the same symptoms. Not always do Rheumatology tests and radiology examinations support clinical phenomenon such as severe pain and decrease in range motion in a hip area, weakness, etc.

The complexity of hips disorder problem lies in the fact that it bears a significant weight and it’s being a vortex of multiple axis and planes of movement. Knee activates many muscles, responsible for stabilization, and movement of hip joint region.

One of the iliopsoas muscle activities is a flexion of thigh in the hip joint and one of the actions of all 4 quadriceps muscles is flexion of hip joint. Gluteal muscle group extends, abducts laterally and medially rotates thighs. Tensor Fasciae Latae muscle action is medial rotation, abduction, flexion of the thigh in the hip joint. Piriformis muscle action is abduction and lateral rotation of the thigh.

Pathological tension in mentioned above muscles can create pressure inside the hip joint that in turn will produce pain and decrease range of motion. Also tension in these muscles contribute significantly to instability of hip joint, development of osteoarthritis, disturbances in gas exchange in hip joint ligaments and tendons.

It is important to mention that some of muscular syndromes in conjunction with the pain in hip area can produce additional difficult clinical phenomena. When treating patients who complained about pain in the hip region it is important to address all mention above muscles as well as to check all of them on existence of trigger point, that must be treated if discovered.

All treatments of lower back disorders, hips, at any region of lower extremities must start from the massage of lower back, spine and gluts region. By massaging the mentioned above regions we initiating muscular relaxation and vascular deletion within lower extremities due to segment stimulation, that providing innervation to the all structures.
